A Night of Worship with Audrey Assad

(Advent Season with Audrey Assad) / 2014

Young Missionaries of the holy Father - Los Angeles / California US

Advent is a time preparing us for the second coming of Jesus, all the while celebrating the first coming. To receive Jesus in our hearts on advent season is what the message of advent is about, Saint Augustine once said, “He who sings, prays twice.” Audrey Assad truly gave us lyrics to reflect on in the song “Humble.”

It made us aspire towards Jesus’ love and the purpose of His redemptive life. How many times in our lives’ have we find out that it is increasingly difficult to humble ourselves? “From the love of my own comfort, from the fear of having nothing, from a life of worldly passions, deliver me O God (lyrics from the song I Shall Not Want).” Jesus humbled himself to the point of being called a thief. Having trust and faith in God the father, advent has been a time to cast ourselves into the Love of God. He has offered us an opportunity to allow our baptism to resonate deeply in our hearts and to grow aware of our changes. Because of our baptism, we are driven to live a more spiritual life.

As opposed to looking for temporal happiness, we search for eternal happiness. The waters of baptism allow our hearts to see the full graces God provides. Although, when does being humble become humiliating? The persecuted Christian can only be allowed to further himself into his faith by having to be humiliated. Born ignominies are living martyrs, and live through it gracefully. Luke 6:29 shows, “If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them.” 2014 is coming to an end and it is time to think of the New Year approaching. Let us all allow Jesus to teach us the lesson of humility granting Him total control of our lives.

Happy New Year!!! YMHF-California
